About the role
This position is a key member of our rapidly growing team.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Credit (Lending) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing our lending credit function, with a key focus in the SME lending market, evolving and maintaining lending policies in line with industry and risk changes, and managing the credit approval process. You will lead a team of credit officers and work closely with other departments to support our financial objectives. A crucial aspect of this role is relationship management, where you will develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, brokers, and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide tailored lending solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain lending policies and procedures to ensure effective credit management in line with industry and risk expectations.
- Oversee the credit approval process, including the evaluation of loan applications and creditworthiness of potential borrowers.
- Monitor and manage the company's lending portfolio to ensure compliance with lending standards and maximise profitability.
- Lead and mentor a team of credit officers, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance.
- Collaborate with sales, finance, and other departments to ensure alignment of lending policies with business objectives.
- Prepare and present regular reports on lending performance and portfolio quality to senior management.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and best practices in lending credit management.
- Handle escalated lending issues and negotiate with clients to resolve disputes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, brokers, and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide tailored lending solutions.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Work closely with the BDM team to ensure seamless communication and support for clients throughout the lending process.
- Gather customer and stakeholder feedback to continuously improve lending products and services.
Skills and experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in lending credit management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of lending credit assessment, financial analysis, and lending policies.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Proven experience in relationship management, particularly with brokers and customers.
- Customer-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
